Sadie Brookman and Caitlin Lee Garner Horizon League Accolades
Green Bay, Wis.
--
For the first time since joining the
Horizon League the Youngstown State
soccer program had a player named to
the all-conference squad and had an
individual selected to the
conference's All-Newcomer Team.
Midfielders Sadie Brookman,
second-team all-league, and Caitlin
Lee, all-newcomer team, were honored
for their accomplishments at the
2005 Horizon League soccer banquet
in Green Bay, Wis., on Wednesday
evening.
Brookman, a senior from Morgantown, W.Va., was named to the
All-League Second Team. She ranked
second on the team for most goals as
well
as most shots on goal. In her two
years with the Penguins she has
started every game.
Lee, a freshman from Ijamsville, Md., was chosen for the
All-Newcomer Team. She started all
19 games this season and is credited
with one assist against Robert
Morris. Lee also
took
the most shots for the Penguins, a
total of three, in the match against
St. Francis.
Head Coach Anthony James said he was pleased that Brookman
and Lee received accolades for their
performances this year.
"I am very happy to see our players finally recognized for
their efforts during our conference
play," James said. "For us it
signifies more of a team award
because without their teammates they
would not have been able to attain
it. Both Sadie and Caitlin have been
two of our most consistent
performers all season long and they
are very deserving of their
respective awards. Hopefully it is
the beginning of a lot more to
come."
