Soccer: Two Second-Half Goals Doom YSU in
Loss
Marquette,
Mich.
-- Northern Michigan scored two
second-half goals within a 12-minute
span and the Youngstown State soccer
team could not recover losing their
season-opener 2-0 on Friday
afternoon to the Wildcats.
Both goals were scored by NMU midfielder Renee LeBlanc with
an assist from forward Michelle
Gillespie on the first. LeBlanc's
initial score came at the 48:17 mark
of the game while her second goal
came at 59:49.
The Penguins and Northern Michigan both finished with 13
shots, including six on goal. YSU
outnumbered the Wildcats in corner
kicks, 4-2.
Of YSU's six shots on goal, midfielder Kara Vezza had three
attempts while one each was taken by
Sadie Brookman, Sade Tate and Alex
Lee.
Youngstown State will be back in action on Sunday when the
Penguins play host to Robert Morris
at Stambaugh Stadium. |
