Youngstown State falls 4-0 to Niagara
Niagara, N.Y. -- Niagara's (8-2-1)
strong offensive effort was to much
for Youngstown State (0-11) as the
Penguins lost 4-0 in Friday
evening's match.
Neither team's goalkeepers had any saves in the first half,
but Niagara forward Stephanie
Gartley ignited her team's offense
with an goal at 9:33 with an assist
from Brittany Bisnott to put the
Purple Eagles up 1-0. Garley then
scored off another assist from
Bisnott at 21:28 to put Niagara in
front 2-0.
YSU goalkeeper Jessica Yarter had four saves in the second
half. Yarter did not allow any more
scores until 64:23 when an
unassisted goal came from Niagara
midfielder Emily Montgomery. The
final goal was then made by
midfielder Caitlin Long, 11 minutes
later.
Sadie Brookman, Diane Fellabaum and Jenna Fink each had a
shot for the Penguins while Roberta
Johnson had a shot on goal.
Niagara outshot the Penguins 21-4 and held an 8-1 advantage
in shots on goal. Yarter finished
with four saves while Niagara's Katy
Owing collected two.
The Penguins will be back in action on Sunday as they travel
to Buffalo, N.Y., to take on
Canisius. |
