Golden Griffins Down Penguins 2-0 in Sunday afternoon's match
Buffalo, N.Y. -- Youngstown State
(0-12) could not hold off Canisius
(3-7) as the Penguins lost 2-0 in
Sunday afternoon's match at the
Demske Sports Complex.
Canisius midfielder Shannon Shumpe put the Golden Griffins in
front on quick score off an assist
from Lisa Nicholas which came just
six minutes into the game. YSU
goalkeeper Jessica Yarter stopped
two of the first-half scoring
attempts keeping the deficit to one.
Forward Amanda Janosky scored early in the second half on a
header off an assist from Danielle
Bernier at 50:47 making the score
2-0.
Sadie Brookman, Jenna Fink and
Brittny Humphrey all took a shot for
the Penguins while forward Sade Tate
and midfielder Roberta Johnson each
had a shot on goal.
Canisius outshot the Penguins 18-5 and held a 6-2 advantage
in shots on goal. Yarter finished
with four saves while Canisius
goalie Jenna Gage collected two.
The Penguins will continue Horizon League play on Thursday as
they take on Loyola at Stambaugh
