Knock Off Penguins, 2-0
Detroit, Mich. --
Nicole Gipson's score put Detroit on
the board while Mary Parker ensured
the victory with her second half
goal making the final score 2-0 in
Detroit's win over Youngstown State
on Friday afternoon at Titan Field.
At 23:23 Gipson
took a cross shot from four yards
out off the assist from Lauren Moss
and Liz Hardy giving Detroit an
early lead. A shot by Parker at
41:36 into the game went through
goalie Caitlin Bestard's hands
resulting in the Titans 2-0 victory.
Brittny Humphrey attempted two shots
for the Penguins as well as one shot
on goal.
With the win, Detroit improves to 8-4-4 and 5-1-1in the
Horizon League, while YSU drops to
1-17 and 1-5 for the season. Detroit
also locks up second place in
Horizon League for second straight
season.
The Titans outshot the Penguins 18-2 and out numbered YSU in
corner kicks 4-1. Caitlin Bestard
and Yarter collected a combined
total of nine saves.
The Penguins will return home for senior day on Sunday
afternoon as they conclude the
season with a league match against
Cleveland State. |
