Soccer: YSU Comes Up Short Against IUPUI
Indianapolis, Ind. -- The
Youngstown State soccer team came
out strong against IUPUI building a
1-0 lead, but YSU could not stop the
Jaguars, who used three second-half
goals to beat the Penguins 4-1 on
Friday night.
YSU midfielder Sadie Brookman came up with a quick first
score just 12 minutes into the game
for her first goal of the season.
However, IUPUI came back in less
than a minute to even up the match
with a goal by forward Angie Pilat
that was assisted by Stacy Downing.
The Penguins only managed two shots on goal, but played
excellent defense keeping the game
tied at one for the first 54 minutes
of the contest until a goal by
Downing put IUPUI into the lead for
good.
Despite YSU's efforts, the Jaguars added two more scores just
two minutes apart with goals by
Downing and Mia Moody.
The Penguins (0-3) will be back on the road playing at Ball
State on Sunday at 1 pm |
