Flashes Down Penguins 3-0 in Friday Night Affair
Youngstown -- Another strong defensive
effort in the first half for
Youngstown State wasn't enough as
Kent State scored three second-half
goals in a 3-0 victory Friday
evening at Stambaugh Stadium.
YSU goalkeeper Jessica Yarter staved off four of Kent State's
12 shots in the first half, but
Ashley Bohinc ignited the Flashes
offense with an unassisted goal at
the 54:34 mark to put the Flashes up
1-0.
Danie Irwin then scored off an assist from Jen Frey at 67:58,
and Catherine Marosszeky found the
top of the net from 30 yards out at
72:18 for the final tally.
Sade Tate attempted two shots for the Penguins while Kaitlin
Messer had a shot on goal.
Kent State outshot the Penguins 23-4 and held an 9-3
advantage in corner kicks. Yarter
finished with six saves while Kent
State's Alicia Fernandez collected
two.
The Penguins will play host to IPFW on Sunday at Noon. |
