Soccer: St. Francis (Pa.) Beats YSU in Double Overtime, 1-0
Youngstown --  The Penguins soccer team once again showed up playing strong defense in Friday afternoon's match against St. Francis (Pa.) but could not score again losing 1-0 at Stambaugh Stadium.
Midfielders Caitlin Lee and Diane Fellabaum each had a shot on goal as well as defender Keeley Rice. The Red Flash (5-4-1) also took a total of seven shots on goal in regulation, all of which were stopped by Youngstown State goalie Jessica Yarter keeping the Penguins' hopes alive until the final shot of the game
Despite St. Francis (Pa.) outnumbering YSU in corner kicks six to one, the game remained scoreless and was forced into overtime. YSU (0-9) held the Red Flash through one sudden-death round with a save by Yarter as the game continued into round two.
The second overtime period, and the game, then came to an end when St. Francis forward Viviane Villar scored with the assist from Meghan Pearson at 106:34 into the game.
The Penguins' best chance to take a lead was on a breakaway shot by Sade Tate in the first half. Tate beat a defender and her shot around the Red Flash keeper, who came out the cut off the angle, drifted just past the right post.
Youngstown State will be back in action on Sunday at noon as they open Horizon League play against Wright State at home.
