Penguins Add Three Recruits to 2005 Team
Youngstown --
Defenders Kaitlin Messer (Dayton,
Ohio) and Nina Pannoni (Lorton, Va.)
and forward Carrie Wack (Harmony,
Pa.) have signed National Letters of
Intent to continue their academic
and soccer careers at Youngstown
State, Head Coach Anthony James
announced.
Messer, a three-year letterwinner for West Carrollton
High School was a first-team
all-league, all-area selection. She
also received first-team all-state
academic honors and well as being
named to the Academic All-Star team.
"Kaitlin is an exciting addition to the program," said
James. "We expect her to step in and
play a very integral part in the
future of our soccer program."
Pannoni, a defensive standout at W.T. Woodson High
School, was a three-year
letterwinner and received
second-team all-district honors for
her efforts. She led her club team,
the Annandale Sparks, to two
quarterfinal finishes, while her
U-19 Vista United team was ranked
second in the country.
"Nina is a very versatile player," James said. "She
plays with a high level of composure
which will add to the future success
of our program as we continue to
grow and develop."
Wack was a four-year letterwinner and a two-time
all-section player. She helped lead
her team to four consecutive WPIAL
playoffs. Her club team,
International Football Club, was
State Cup finalists three times and
semi-finalists three times.
"Wack is another of those players who will greatly add
to the depth of our new strike
force," said James. "She is a very
gifted student who we expect to
develop into a very special player." |
