YSU Drops Match to
Falcons, 1-0
Bowling Green,
Ohio -- The
Youngstown State women's soccer team
(1-4) could not stop Bowling
Green's(2-4) impressive offensive
efforts as they lost 1-0 on Friday
evening at Cochran Field.
Bowling Green opened the first half
with a total of 12 shots. Penguins
goalkeeper Caitlin Bodzioney tallied
four saves in first half, but could
not stop a quick pass by defender
Danielle Cygan to forward Stacy
Lucas for the goal. The Falcons only
score came at 23:28 in the game.
The Penguins only shot in the first
period came from Jordan Gapczynski
just minutes before the half.
Youngstown State's offense came
together in the last 10 minutes of
the game. Carrie Wack had a shot on
goal at 86:27 and Tessa Brookman's
shot on goal came just 26 seconds
later. Gapczynksi also had two wide
shots in the final minutes of the
game.
The Penguins held Bowling Green to one score for the game. Bodzioney
finished with six saves.
The Falcons outshot YSU 24 to six.
BGSU also outnumberd the 'Guins in
corner kicks six to one.
Coach Anthony James considered the loss a
major set back.
"The lack of movement with the ball
really showed up in the game," said
James. "We can't be inconsistent
when it comes to playing time."
The Penguins will continue their road game series as they
face Kent State on Sunday at 1p.m. |
