Penguins Outscored by the Flashes, 1-0

    Kent, Ohio -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team (1-5) could not connect with the net in the 1-0 loss to Kent State (2-3-1) at the KSU soccer field on Sunday afternoon.
    Kent State dominated YSU in shots 17-2 in the first half.
 YSU Goalkeeper Caitlin Bodzioney stopped all the Flashes shots on goal marking five saves in the first period   
     Despite the Flashes aggressive offensive tactics, the game remained scoreless until the second half. The goal came from KSU midfielder Cassie Seten off the pass from Lisa Kurz at 52:35 putting Kent State up 1-0.
  The Penguins contended with the Flashes in the second half as both teams had seven shots on goal. The 'Guins outnumbered Kent in corner kicks 5-2.  Jordan Gapczynski had a total of two shots on goal. Sophomores Keeley Rice and Alex Lee each took a shot on goal for the Penguins as well.
  Head Coach Anthony said that the team played strong from the beginning to the end.
"These girls played their best game for the year," said James.

    Bodzioney finished the game with seven saves while KSU gaolkeeper Alicia Fernandez totaled four saves.

    The Penguins will play next Friday in the Citadel Adidas Soccer Classic in Charleston, S.C. as they take on Francis Marion at 1 p.m.
