Gapczynski Nets Fourth Goal in 4-1 Loss to Loyola

The Youngstown State soccer team
(2-11, 0-4 Horizon League) lost to league opponent Loyola (10-5-2, 5-1-1)4-1 on
Sunday afternoon at Loyola Soccer Park. Caitlin
Bodzioney, for the third time of season, finished with 11 saves.
Loyola's Mary Dale scored the first goal of the game at
just under eight minutes into play from six yards out off the assist from Katie Heidenrich.
Jenna Fink took an attempt to tie the score at the 13-minute
mark with a shot that was saved by Emily Pieck.
Amy Lomas put the Rambler's second
tally on the board just before half
time.
Head Soccer Coach Anthony
James said that the game was very
physical.
"We had a hard time today with this team," James
said. "I was
impressed with how we played in the
second half".
Selina Hunt gave the Ramblers a 3-0
point advantage two minutes into the
second half but Loyola was quickly
met by an offensive attack from the
Penguins.
YSU forward Jodi Bowlen attempted the 'Guins first shot of the
second period that was saved. Jordan
Gapczynksi fired back seven minutes
later with the Penguins first goal
of the game. The score marked the
freshman's fourth goal of the year.
Gapczynski
took her second shot of the game at
63:36 that was saved.
Sarah McPartlan
scored Loyola's fourth goal at 83:14
making the final score 4-1.
YSU will
travel to Butler on Friday to face
the Bulldogs at 4p.m.
