Bodzioney's 11 Saves Not Enough in 3-0 Loss to Valparaiso

Youngstown -- Youngstown State stayed within a goal of Valparaiso for 70 hard-fought minutes before surrendering two late scores in a 3-0 loss Friday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Bodzioney tied her career high with 11 saves against the Crusaders, but Valpo fired 26 shots and three found the net. The Crusaders improved to 9-2 with the win and have the best record in the Mid-Continent Conference in their final season before joining the Horizon League.
The Penguins (2-7) will open up the Horizon League portion of their schedule on Sunday with a noon match against UW-Green Bay at Stambaugh.
Bodzioney was solid in the first half converting on nine save attempts before Sarah Jewell sailed one over the goalkeeper's fingertips at the 43:02 mark.
YSU had opportunities to tie the score in the second half, but its best chance failed when Caitlin Lee's shot sailed wide left.
Laura Murphy put the Crusaders up 2-0 at 72:54 off an assist from Ani Michal, and the pair connected in reverse with 81:47 remaining for the final score.
