Brady's Goal Not Enough in 2-1 loss to Butler
Youngstown --
The Penguins put the first points of
the evening on the board in the final home game of the season, but Butler
answered back with two goals to pick up the win.
Sophomore Natalie Brady took the Penguins first shot of
the match from a pass from Lauren Brennan. The ball slipped by Annalise Larkin
resulting in Brady's first goal of the season at the 34 minute mark.
The Bulldogs Angie Muir then drove
the ball to her end of the field
with a shot that was wide. Sarah
Phelps passed the ball from her
corner kick to Abbie Kaul who
attempted a header that was blocked.
Cara Burchett made another header
shot that was also blocked by a YSU
defender. Laura Miller then shot a
quick pass to Carrie Twyman
who netted Butler's goal first goal
of match to tie the game,
Brennan
tried to give YSU the lead before
the half with a shot that was saved.
The Penguins took a total of six
shots in the second half, including
three on goal by Jordan Gapczynski.
The defense helped to keep the game
tied until the 76 minute of play.
Sarah Phelp's shot her corner kick
directly to to Kaul who knocked in
Butler's game winning goal.
YSU's defense did not allow Butler
to take any more shots in the
remaining 14 minutes of game.
The Penguins will play the final
game of the season against Detroit
on Sunday at 3 p.m.
