Penguins Six Shots on Goal Not Enough in 2-0 loss to Cleveland State

The Youngstown State soccer team
(1-12-1, 0-3 Horizon League) dropped Friday afternoon's match to league opponent
Cleveland State (4-10, 1-3) 2-0. Lauren Brennan, Jordan Gapczynski, Amanda
Polles and Alex Lee all attempted shots on goal for the Penguins.
Jennifer Wieand gave the Vikings the lead early in the
contest with her goal at 12:32 into play. Forward Tara Morey attempted the first
shot for Penguins that was high. Morey also had a header before the half that
was also high. Tessa Brookman and Lauren Brennan each made shots that were wide
as well.
The Penguins tied Cleveland State
with 6 shots in the first half and
came back in the second to outshoot
the Vikings 12 to 6.
The Penguins defense held CSU until
the 61 minute marker when Wieand
netted her second goal of the night
with the assist from Marley Greiner.
Wieand's goals secured the Vikings
win making the final score 2-0.
Goalkeeper Caitlin Bodioney finished
with 5 saves while Cleveland State's
goalkeeper collected 6.
The Penguins will be back in action
again on Sunday as they take on
Wright State at 1 p.m. at Stambaugh
Stadium.
