YSU Shut Out 2-0 by Kent State
Kent, Ohio --
The
Youngstown State soccer team put up
a strong defensive effort against
the Golden Flashes, but the Guins
could not find the net in the 2-0
loss to Kent State on Wednesday
afternoon.
Kent State
(2-4) put the first goal of the day
on the board just over 33 minutes
into the game. The score came from
Annie Messer with the
assist by Dana Neroni.
Tessa Brookman and Lauren Brenna
attempted the Penguins only two
shots in the first half. Brookman's
shot was wide of the net while
Brennan's shot was blocked less than a
minute before half time.
Goalkeeper Caitlin Bodzioney helped keep the Penguins within
one score in the first period with her
five
saves.
YSU came back with eight shots in the second half, but
still managed to come up short.
Freshman Taylor Pickens attempted
the Penguins first shot on goal that
was saved by KSU goalkeeper Kris
Nelson. Lauren Brennan took the
second shot on goal just a minute
later that was also stopped by
Nelson.
The Penguins held the Flashes until
the final minute of the game when
Brittany Fracasso scored Kent States
second goal giving the team the 2-0
win over YSU.
With the loss, Youngstown State
falls to 1-6 for the season.
The team will return home to face
play Bowling Green at 3 p.m. on
Friday. |
