Penguins Fall to Ramblers, 3-0
Youngstown --
The Youngstown State soccer team
(1-15-1, 0-4 Horizon League) lost to league opponent Loyola (11-7, 6-1) on
Sunday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium. Natalie Brady and Jordan Gapczynski
each attempted a shot on goal for
YSU. In the
end, the Penguins could not stop the
Ramblers' offense as they dropped the
game 3-0.
Goalkeeper Caitlin Bodzioney stopped nine of Loyola's scoring
attempts in the first half. The defense also helped to keep the game scoreless
until the 40 minute mark. Cynthia Morote-Ariza knocked the ball in with assist
from Lauren Gerbick and Maggie Doe. The Rambers fired back just three minutes
later with the second goal of the afternoon. Nikki Staton rebounded her own shot
off the post giving her team the 2-0 lead just before the half.
Morte-Ariza
helped to set up the Ramblers third
goal with her corner kick to Julie
Kenkel inside the box. Kenkel
quickly headed the ball in to give
Loyola the 3-0 win.
Gapczynski attempted the Guins final
shot that was saved by Colleen
Dougherty with four minutes left in
the game. Gapczynski finished the
afternoon with five shots. Lauren
Brennan attempted two shots while
Caitlin Lee had on shot.
The Penguins

the season on Friday at 6:30 against
