Alex Lee Scores Game-Winning Goal
Against Slippery Rock
Slippery
Rock, Pa.
--
The Youngstown State soccer team
traveled to N. Kerr Thompson Stadium
on Wednesday evening to face
Slippery Rock in a spring exhibition
game.
Alex
Lee scored the Penguins' goal in the
1-0 victory. Lee's goal came from
Jordan Gapczynksi's attempted shot
that was deflected off the the goal
post.
Head Coach Anthony James said he was pleased
with how well the team played,
especially considering the harsh
weather conditions.
"It
was a hard-fought battle by both
teams and it was good to come out on
top after seeing the girls play
with all the rain and wind that they
had to endure," James said.
James is also greatly anticipating the fall season.
"The
team has been playing well all
spring with adjustments we have made. This is definitely the
best spring season we have had in my
past three years at YSU and
I am
extremely encouraged about what we
will be able to do in the fall,"
James added.
The Penguins will travel to
Cincinnati to face the Bearcats on
Saturday morning at 10. |
