Softball Program
to Hold Walk-On Tryouts in September |

Youngstown -- Youngstown State softball Head Coach
Brian Campbell announced Monday the
program will hold walk-on tryouts
for the 2010 season on Sept. 14-15.
Those interested
must stop by the softball office by
Friday, Sept. 4. The softball office
is located on the first floor of the
Beeghly Center.

Pendleton, Ind. --
Youngstown State put runners in
scoring position in every inning,
but the Penguins went 2-for-14 in
those opportunities while Valparaiso
capitalized on its scoring chances
to eliminate YSU from the
Horizon League Softball Championship
with a 10-2 decision on Friday
morning at Legends Field. The
Penguins conclude the season with an 8-42 overall record.

Pendleton, Ind. -- Butler
scored six runs in the bottom of the
fifth inning to expand a 2-1 edge
into an insurmountable 8-1 lead and
defeated the Youngstown State
softball team in the first round of
the Horizon League Softball
Championship at Legends Field.
The Penguins fall to 8-41 overall and will face No. 6
Valparaiso in an elimination game,
Friday, May 8, at 9 a.m.

Kim Klonowski Named to All-Horizon
League Second-Team |

Indianapolis, Ind. -- Youngstown State
sophomore Kim Klonowski was named to
the All-Horizon League Second-Team
in a vote by the league's head
coaches, the Horizon League
announced Wednesday evening at the
League's Softball Postseason Awards
Banquet.
Klonowski led the Penguins with a .329 overall batting
average, eight home runs and 31 runs
batted in.

The Youngstown
State softball team (8-40) earned the No 8 seed for the upcoming Horizon
League Softball Championship and will face No. 5 Butler, Thursday, May
7, at 11 a.m. at Legends Field in Pendleton, Ind.
The Penguins, who won the tournament in 2006, have lost four
straight tournament games over the
last two seasons.
