Softball Falls For Third Time to
Wright State
Canfield, Ohio -- The
Youngstown State softball team
(6-22, 2-9 Horizon League) fell to
Wright State for the third straight
time after falling 13-3 in five
innings on Sunday afternoon at
McCune Park. The Raiders improved to
20-17 overall and 8-2 in the Horizon
League.
Wright State's Mollie Berry put the
Raiders on the board with a two-out,
two-run home run in the top of the
second inning and gave WSU a 2-0
lead.
The Penguins answered with two runs
in the bottom half of the frame to
knot the score at 2-2. Freshman
Rochelle Vanyi walked with the bases
loaded to cut the deficit in half
and sophomore Kristin Bair's ground
out scored Allyse Ledford, who
walked.
Justine Stilt hit a three-run home
run in the top of the third put the
Raiders back on top 5-3 and a grand
slam as part of a five-run fourth
inning to put the Raiders ahead
10-3.
Wright State added three more runs
in the top of the fifth to reach the
eight-run mercy rule.
YSU hosts Cleveland State, Tuesday,
