Cale's
Strong Efforts Not Enough in
Softball Sweep by Butler
Indianapolis,
Ind. -- Junior Cheryl Cale
turned in two solid pitching
performances, but the Youngstown
State softball team left 12 runners
stranded in game one and tallied
just three hits in game two as
Butler swept the Penguins, 1-0, and
3-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Penguins fall
to 7-35 overall and 3-16 in the
league while Butler improves to
23-25 overall and 12-10 in the
Horizon League.
In the
opener, Cale struck out four while
scattering just six hits, but the
Penguins offense could not come up
with the big hit, leaving seven
runners in scoring position stranded
on the base paths.
The Penguins also
could not capitalize on four butler
errors.
Junior Kim
Klonowski went 2-for-4 in the
opener.
In the night cap,
Cale went the distance for her
second complete game of the day but
the Penguins offense could only
muster three singles.
The Penguins and
Bulldogs close out the series on
Sunday at Noon, |
