Kim Klonowski
Ties Two Marks as Guins Drop Pair to
Loyola
Canfield, Ohio
-- Sophomore Kim Klonowski tied
two single-game marks with four hits
and two home runs, and also drove in
four runs in a 6-5 eight inning loss
to Horizon League foe Loyola on
Saturday afternoon at McCune Park.
The Penguins also dropped the first
game of the day to the Ramblers,
4-1.
Youngstown State
falls to 2-16 overall and 0-2 in the
Horizon League while the Ramblers
improve to 13-7 overall and 2-0 in
the league.
Both of
Klonowski's blasts were game-tying
home runs. First, with the Penguins
trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the
fourth, Klonowski belted a three-run
round-tripper to center field to
knot the game at 4-4.
After Loyola
regained a 5-4 edge with a run in
the top of the sixth, Klonowski's
second home run, a solo shot, with
one out in the bottom of the seventh
forced extra innings.
However, Loyola's
Alexandra Trudenich's solo shot in
the top of the eight proved to be
the game winner.
Junior Autumn
Grove went 2-for-5 with two runs
scored two runs.
In the opener,
junior Cheryl Cale tossed a
complete-game six-hitter and only
two earned runs in the 4-1 loss.
Offensively,
freshman Jordan Ingalls went 2-for-3
with a run-scoring double and
classmate Haley Thomas went 2-for-3
with a double to lead the Penguins.
The Penguins
recorded nine hits but stranded 11
runners on base.
The Penguins and
Ramblers close out the three-game
series with a single-game, Sunday,
March 22, at 11 a.m. at McCune Park. |
