Detroit Uses Five-Run Fourth for 7-1 Win Over Softball

     Canfield, Ohio -- Detroit scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning en route to a 7-1 victory over the Youngstown State softball team on Wednesday evening at McCune Park.

    The Penguins fell to 4-20 overall and 2-5 in the Horizon League while the Titans improve to 5-21 overall and 1-6 in the league.

    The Penguins were limited to just five fits by Detroit's Jill Perry, who struck out two and did not allow a walk.

    Perry allowed just one runner passed second base - pinch-runner Tasha Hess, who scored on Amanda Palmore's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning.

    Detroit pounded out 13 hits, including a two home runs in the five-run fourth inning.

    The Penguins and Titans close out the series with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at McCune Park.
