Two
Detroit Slugs Way to Doubleheader
Sweep of Softball
Canfield, Ohio -- Detroit
tallied 11 hits in each game of a
doubleheader en route to a sweep of
the Youngstown State softball, 11-2,
and 5-1, on Thursday afternoon at
McCune Park.
The Penguins fall
to 4-22 overall and 2-6 in the
Horizon League while Detroit
improves to 7-21 overall and 3-6 in
the Horizon League.
In the opener,
freshman Haley Thomas went 2-for-3
with a run scored and drove in a run
as the Penguins were limited to just
six hits.
In the second
game, freshman Amanda Palmore went
2-for-3 with a double and sophomore
Kim Klonowski drove in the Penguins'
lone run with a sacrifice fly in the
bottom of the first inning.
Thomas led off
the bottom of the first with a
triple to center field and scored on
Klonowski fly out to center to
batters later.
The Penguins
visit UIC, April 4-5, for a
three-game series in Chicago, Ill.
First pitch on Saturday is slated
for 2 p.m. |
