The Youngstown State University Cheerleading squad represents the Athletic Department at games, department events and throughout the community at special functions. The Cheerleaders provide spirit to an already great atmosphere on gamedays at YSU’s Stambaugh Stadium and throughout the men’s and women’s basketball season at the Beeghly Center.
   The Cheerleaders are coached by Michelle Markota and Deanna Theodore, both previous Penguin Cheerleaders and YSU graduates. Markota has been an advisor since the fall of 2002 while Theodore joined the coaching ranks in the fall of 2005.
   Schools, groups or organizations wishing to have the YSU Cheerleaders make an appearance at a community function or events may print the “Appearance Request” form on this web site and fax the completed form to (330) 941-1534 at least three weeks prior to the scheduled event.
