YSU Earns Double Win Against Baldwin
Wallace and Mt. Union
Youngstown,
Ohio
-- The YSU swimming and diving team
defeated Baldwin Wallace, 127-116,
and Mount Union, 153-83, Saturday at
Beeghly Natatorium. The Penguins
earned nine wins overall.
Freshman Erin Carter won the 200-freestyle, 2:03.10,
and also took first in the
200-butterfly, 2:21.76.
Freshman Michele Von Duhn took first
in the 1,000-freestyle, 11:55.89,
while freshman Erika Gregos placed
second, 12:11.38. In the
50-free, sophomore Lena Arens earned
top honors for her time of 26.44 and
freshman Missy Wiese finished second
with a time of 26.58. Wiese
also won the 100-freestyle event
recording a time of 58.02.
Freshman Jordan Dunn swam a time of 2:23.84 in the
200-individual medley and placed
second in the 200-backstroke with a
time of 2:23.29.
In the diving events, junior Mandie Smail won the
one-meter event with a score of
260.95 and placed second in the
three-meter with a score of 258.75.
Senior Brandi Goettsch dominated the
three-meter event, 266.05, and took
second in the one-meter, 253.95.
The YSU 400-yard relay team came from behind during the
last leg of the event to earn the
final win of the day with a time of
3:51.63.
The YSU diving team is scheduled to compete against St.
Francis, Friday. The swim team
will face-off with St. Francis the
following day. |
