YSU defeats Canisius, 149-84
Buffalo, NY -- The
Youngstown State University women's
swimming and diving team won 10 of
13 events in Sunday's win over
Canisius, 149-84. The Penguins
improved their record to 7-4 on the
season.
Freshman Erin Carter led the team with three wins against the
Golden Griffins. Carter finished
with times of 26.81 in the 50-yard
freestyle, 5:30.25 in the 500-yard
freestyle and helped lead the YSU
200-medley relay team, freshman
Danielle Blagg, junior Lena Arens
and freshman April Gellatly, to
finish first in 2:02.58.
Junior Molly McAtee, freshman Melissa Wiese and senior
diver Brandi Goettsch each earned
two wins for the Penguins. McAtee
recorded a time of 11:34.25 in the
1,000-meter freestyle and a time of
1:08.50 in the 100-yard butterfly.
Wiese swam the 200-freestyle in
2:06.55 and the 100-yard freestyle
in 58.08. Goettsch dominated both
the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events.
Freshman Jordan Dunn won the 400-yard IM with a time of
2:24.60.
The YSU diving team will host the YSU Diving
Invitational 11 p.m., Saturday. |
