YSU beats Niagara, 135-107
Youngstown -- The
Youngstown State University swimming
and diving team earned their sixth
victory of the season, Saturday, at
home beating Niagara, 135-107. The
Penguins are now 6-4 on the season.
Senior diver Brandi Goettsch took first place
finishes in both the 1- and 3-meter
dive events with scores of 269 and
313.55, respectively. Freshman
Erin Carter also took home two
first-place finishes. She recorded a
time of 2:04.4 in the 200-yard
freestyle and a time of 1:05.39 in
the 100-yard backstroke.
In the 50-yard freestyle, junior Lena Arens
placed first with a time of 25.80
and freshman Missy Wiese took second
with a time of 26.52. In the
100-yard freestyle, Wiese took the
event with a time of 56.69 while
Arens placed second in 56.84.
Freshman Jordan Dunn won the 200-yard IM in
2:23.43. Finishing off the meet with
a win was the YSU 200-yard freestyle
relay team, Dunn, Wiese, freshman
Erika Gregos and senior Amy
Thompson, which finished with a time
of 1:47.15. |
