Smail Earns One, Three Meter Wins Against Ohio
Youngstown -- Senior diver Mandi Smail won both the
one and three-meter diving events
but as a squad, the Penguins came up
short losing a dual meet to Ohio
124-85 at the Beeghly Natatorium on
Friday.
Smail won the one-meter competition with a score of 253.50
while teammate Kalyn Leveto placed
second with a 200.75. Smail also won
the three-meter competition with a
score of 253.60 while Leveto again
placed second with a 248.15.
Sophomore Danielle Blagg won the women's 100-yard butterfly
in a time of 1:13.67 while YSU
freshman Lauren Connolly was second
with a 1:25.15. YSU sophomore Missy
Weise was second in the 50-yard
freestyle in a time of 26.14 seconds
and was third in the 100-yard
freestyle at 56.75 seconds.
Sophomore Erin Carter placed second in the 100-yard
backstroke in a time of 1:04.37.
Connolly added a second-place finish
in the 500-yard freestyle with a
time of 5:52.73.
The Penguins return to action at the Beeghly Natatorium on
Saturday at 2 p.m. YSU plays host to
a triangular featuring Niagara and
St. Francis (Pa.) |
