Penguins Fall to Xavier, 86-27
Cincinnati, Ohio
-- The Youngstown State women's
swimming team was defeated by the
Xavier Musketeers 86-27 behind two
pool record times on Saturday
afternoon at the O'Conner Sports
Center Pool.
Xavier jumped out front early in dramatic fashion by swimming
the best time in the pool's history
in the 200-yard medley and ended the
same way, setting the record in the
400-yard freestyle relay.
Sophomore Erin Carter led the Penguins with two victories.
The captain earned the first win on
the day for YSU in the 200-yard
freestyle with a personal-best time
of 2:01.71 and pulled out a victory
in the 100-yard fly with a time of
1:03.20. She also finished
second in the 200-yard backstroke.
Sophomore Missy Wiese finished first in the 50-yard freestyle
and lost by only four-hundredths of
a second in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Penguins return to action next Saturday against Duquesne
at home in Beeghly Natatorium. |
