Carter Sets 400 IM Record at Butler Quadrangular
Carmel, Ind. --
Junior Erin Carter broke her own
school record in the 400-yard
individual medley with a first-place
time of 4 minutes, 40.77 seconds to
lead the Youngstown State swimming
and diving team over Butler in a
quadrangular with the Bulldogs,
Wright State and Xavier on Sunday
afternoon.
The Penguins defeated Butler 86-51, but fell to Wright State
86-52 and Xavier 93-45.
Kalyn Leveto provided YSU's only other victories, picking up
two victories with first-place
scores of 255.75 in 1-meter diving
and 248.75 in 3-meter diving.
Lena Arens led the sprint group with a second-place finish in
the 50 free with a time of 24.94 and
a third-place finish in the 100 free
with a personal-best 54.76.
Missy Wiese finished fifth in the
100 free and sixth in the 50 free.
Jordan Dunn had a strong showing in the distance freestyle
with a fourth-place finish in the
1,000 with a time of 11:14.56 and a
fifth-place finish in the 500 with a
time of 5:30.82.
Carter added third-place finishes in the 100 back with a time
of 1:01.75 and the 200 back with a
time of 2:13.72.
Also placing in the top five were Becky Bertuzzi with a
fourth-place finish in the 200 free,
Danielle Blagg with a fifth-place
spot in the 200 breast and Kim
Hanley with a fifth-place finish in
the 400 IM.
Erin Mazzant and Lynea Harrill finished second and third,
respectively, in 3-meter diving.
Carter's old mark in the 400 IM was 4:44.28, which she set at
Duquesne on Nov. 8.
The Penguins will take two weeks off before traveling to
Chicago to compete in the Horizon
League Championship on Feb. 25. |
