Leveto Wins 3-meter; Blagg, Carter Set Records
Chicago -- Junior
diver Kalyn Leveto won the 3-meter
diving event with an 11-dive score
of 449.20 while Erin Carter and
Danielle Blagg broke school records
in the final day of competition to
lift YSU to a sixth-place finish at
the Horizon League Championship at
the UIC Natatorium.
Carter broke the school record in the
preliminary round of the 200-yard
butterfly, clocking in at 2 minutes,
12.48 seconds. Blagg's record
came in the 200-yard breaststroke
when she topped her old record with
a 14th-place time of 2:33.79.
Leveto was named Diver of the Meet for her win in the 3-meter
and second-place finish in the
1-meter. Coach Nick Gavolas
earned Women's Diving Coach of the
Year honors.
Carter finished eighth in the 200 fly while Becky Bertuzzi
finished 15th. Lena Arens
finished eighth in the 100-yard
freestyle with a time of 54.53 while
Darla Drummond added a 16th-place
finish in the 200-yard backstroke.
The 400-yard freestyle relay tandem of Carter, Bertuzzi,
Missy Wiese and Arens finished sixth
with a time of 3:40.61. Erin
Mazzant finished 13th in 3-meter
diving while Lynea Harrill placed
16th.
The Penguins' sixth-place finish at the meet is the highest
in their three-year stint in the
Horizon League.
