Penguins Compete at Orange Bowl Classic
Key Largo, Fla. -- The Youngstown State swimming &
diving squad concluded a strenuous
week of workouts by competing at the
Orange Bowl Classic on Dec. 20
against Tennessee, Florida
International and Alma College.
The major highlights of
the meet were junior Erin Carter's third-place
finish in the 100-meter butterfly
and junior Missy Wiese's
fourth-place finish in the 100-meter
freestyle. The relays also had
a strong showing placing third in
the 200-meter freestyle relay and
fourth in the 200-meter medley
relay.
Other notable performances were turned in by senior Lena
Arens (50-meter freestyle), junior
Danielle Blagg (50-meter
breaststroke, 100-meter
breaststroke), junior Amanda Howard
(100-meter breaststroke) and
freshman Becky Bertuzzi (100-meter
freestyle), who all finished in
seventh or above in their respective
events.
The next competition is Saturday, January 17, against Akron
University in Beeghly Center
