Blagg Breaks 200 Breast Record Against Cleveland State
Youngstown -- Youngstown State
senior Danielle Blagg shattered her
own school record in the 200-yard
breaststroke with a time of 2:30.69
as the Penguins fell to Cleveland
State 124-113 at the Beeghly
Natatorium on Friday evening.
The Vikings overcame a Penguin sweep in both diving events
and two other YSU victories by
grabbing wins in nine of the meet's
13 events.
Senior Kalyn Leveto won the 1-meter diving event with a score
of 262.90 and the 3-meter board with
a tally of 268.55. Erin Carter won
the the 200 butterfly with a time of
2:11.34 while the 200 freestyle
relay of Brittany Senn, Jordan Dunn,
Missy Wiese and Carter finished
first with a time of 1:41.19.
Wiese, Senn and Katy Malys each swam lifetime-best times in
the sprint freestyles. Wiese placed
second in the 50 free in 25.34 and
second in the 100 free by just .01
seconds with a time of 55.44. Senn
clocked in with a third-place time
of 25.54 in the 50 and a
fourth-place time of 55.78 in the
100. Malys was fifth in both events,
finishing with a 25.84 in the 50 ad
a 56.35 in the 100.
Carter added a second-place finish in the 200 individual
medley in 2:12.50 while Lynea
Harrill finished second in both
diving events.
Earning third-place finishes for the Penguins were Jordan
Dunn in the 1,000 free (11:00.70),
Becky Bertuzzi in the 200 free
(2:00.88), Erin Mazzant in 1- and
3-meter diving and Julia Darling in
the 200 IM (2:20.85) and 200 breast
(2:36.28).
The Penguins will travel to take on West Virginia and
Duquesne in Morgantown, W. Va. on
Saturday at 9 a.m. |
