Dunn Sets School Mark in 1,000-Yard Freestyle On Day One
Brown Deer, Wis. --
During the first day of competition
at the Horizon League Women's
Swimming and Diving Championships on
Wednesday, YSU senior Jordan Dunn
set a school record in the
1,000-yard freestyle with a time of
10:43.86. Dunn was the best Penguin
finisher placing 10th overall while
teammates Erika Gregos and Michelle
Von Duhn placed 14th and 16th
respectively.
Dunn's mark eclipsed the best of 10:50.95 set by Cathy Sipka
on Feb. 12, 1983. Dunn shaved almost
11 seconds off her previous best
time of 10:54.75 set at last year's
Horizon League meet.
In the 200-yard medley relay, YSU placed sixth ahead of
Cleveland State with a school-record
time of 1:51.57. Katy Malys, Julia
Darling, Sarah Porchak and Erin
Carter teamed up to break a school
record that was set in 1984.
The Penguins placed fifth (ahead of Cleveland State and
Butler) in the 200-yard freestyle
relay with the third-fastest time in
school history, 1:39.82. Malys,
Dunn, Brittany Senn and Missy Wiese
combined to perform the best time by
the program since March 1983.
In the preliminaries of the three-meter diving event, Kalyn
Leveto finished fifth while Erin
Mazzant was 17th and Courtney
Harless was 18th.
After day one, UW-Green Bay held down the women's lead with
115 points while the host
UW-Milwaukee was at 107. |
