Carter Places Fourth In 400-Yard Individual Medley

Senior Erin Carter highlighted the
Youngstown State swimming and diving
team's efforts on the third day of
the Horizon League Championships
finishing fourth in the 400-yard
individual medley at the Schroeder
YMCA Natatorium.
Carter, who won the 400-yard individual medley at last year's
league meet, finished fourth with a
time of 4:36.53. Wright State's
Jessica Weidert won the event.
The highest finish by another Penguin on Day Three was Julia
Darling's ninth-place performance in
the 100-yard breaststroke. Darling
finished with a time of 1:08.46 in
the finals. Senior Danielle Blagg
placed 12th in 100 breaststroke.
Sarah Porchak finished 10th in the 100-yard butterfly with a
time of 1:01.24 while teammate
Brittany Senn placed 12th.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of Becky
Bertuzzi, Jordan Dunn, Senn and
Carter placed sixth with a time of
7:54.57.
Also, Bertuzzi finished 12th in 200-yard freestyle with a
time of 1:55.95.
Senior diver Kalyn Leveto, who placed fourth in the
three-meter diving event, had the
top score in the preliminaries of
the one-meter diving competition
that concludes on Saturday
The four-day championships conclude tomorrow with the finals
of the one-meter dive, 1,650-yard
freestyle, 200-yard backstroke,
100-yard freestyle, 200-yard
breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and
400-yard freestyle relay being
contested. |
