Carter Wins 200 Backstroke in Season Opener
Huntington, W.Va. -- Senior Erin
Carter won the 200-yard backstroke
with a career-best time of 2:12.87
as the Youngstown State swimming and
diving team opened its season Sunday
with a double-dual with Marshall and
Radford.
Freshman Brittany Senn also had an impressive meet first
collegiate meet, picking up two
second-place finishes in the sprint
freestyle events with a time of
25.74 in the 50 and a 56.52 in the
100.
Marshall defeated the Penguins 210-90 while Radford held on
for a 159-140 win.
Freshman Sarah Porchak placed second in the 100 back with a
time of 1:03.50 and fourth in the
100 fly (1:03.07) while Carter added
third-place finishes in the 200 fly
(2:14.13) and the 200 individual
medley (2:14.11). Jordan Dunn
finished fourth in the 1,000 free
(11:07.08) and fifth in the 500 free
(5:24.49) while Kim Hanley had a
fourth-place showing in the 200 free
(2:02.73). Danielle Blagg placed
fifth in the 100 breaststroke in
1:11.80 and Katy Malys was fifth in
the 100 free with a time of 57.38.
Kalyn Leveto finished second in both diving events, tallying
a score of of 239.90 in the 3-meter
board and a 236.80 in the 1-meter
event. Erin Mazzant placed fourth in
both events while Lynea Harrill
finished fifth.
The Penguins will continue their season on Sunday when they
take on Niagara and Vermont in
Buffalo, N.Y. at 1 p.m. |
