Dunn, Leveto Pace Penguins to Dual-Meet Sweep
Niagara University, N.Y. -- The
Youngstown State swimming and diving
team picked up its first two wins of
the season with a double-dual sweep
of Niagara (147-93) and Vermont
(154-88) at the Oxy Aquatic Center
on Sunday afternoon.
The Penguins got a lift by winning eight of 13 events while
10 athletes set collegiate-best
marks at the meet.
Jordan Dunn and Kalyn Leveto each picked up two victories for
the Penguins to head up the
individual efforts. Dunn picked up
won the 1,650 freestyle in a
personal-best time of 18:25.62 and
the 500 free in 5:27.22. Leveto won
both diving events with a mark of
282.65 in the 1-meter board and a
268.15 in the 3-meter.
Also providing wins were Becky Bertuzzi in the 200 free
(2:03.56), Erin Carter in the 200 IM
(2:15.60), and Brittany Senn in the
100 free (56.00). The relay of Katy
Malys, Missy Wiese, Bertuzzi and
Senn took first in the 200 free
relay.
Erin Mazzant finished second in both diving events with a
personal-best mark of 216.60 in the
1-meter and a 206.75 in the 3-meter.
Carter added a second-place finish
in the 100 butterfly with a time of
1:01.84 while Sarah Porchak placed
second in the 100 back in 1:04.25.
Danielle Blagg rounded out the
second-place finishers as she placed
second in the 100 breast in 1:11.85.
Finishing in third place were Erika Gregos in the 1,650 free
(18:59.42), Wiese in the 50 free
(25.91) and Julia Darling in the 100
breast (1:12.67).
The 200 medley relay of Porchak, Blagg, Carter and Senn
placed second in 1:55.58.
The Penguins will travel to take on Ohio on Friday at 4 p.m. |
