Arnold Wins Three Events, Sets School Record at Akron
Akron, Ohio -- Freshman Olivia Arnold won three events and set the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle as Youngstown State fell to Akron 163-122 on Saturday in its first meet of the new year.
Arnold swam a time of 10:42.71 in the 1,000 free to break Jordan Dunn's record of 10:43.86 that was recorded last year. Arnold also picked up wins in the 500 free (5:17.21) and the 200 IM (2:17.31).
Sophomore Brittany Senn won both sprint freestyle events with a time of 25.26 in the 50 and a 54.52 in the 100. The 200 free relay of Senn, Jessica Front, Julia Darling and Leigh Bareman picked up YSU's only other victory.
Darling was just .01 seconds behind her own school record in the 100 breast with a second-place time of 1:08.47, and she added a second-place finish in the 200 breast (2:30.52). Front placed second in the 200 free (2:01.13) and the 500 free (5:23.81) while Senn added a second-place finish in the 100 fly (1:01.95). Natasha Bray finished second in the 200 IM (2:24.21), and Kelly Reese led the diving squad with a second-place finish in the 3-meter with a score of 226.95.
