Reese, Arnold Sweep League's Weekly Awards for Second Time
Indianapolis -- Youngstown State
freshmen Kelly Reese and Olivia
Arnold swept the Horizon League's
weekly swimming and diving awards
for the second time this season, the
league office announced Wednesday.
The tandem put together strong individual performances in a
meet against California (Pa.) and a
double-dual against Cleveland State
and UIC. Reese and Arnold also swept
the awards in November.
Reese picked up three wins over the weekend and set
personal-best marks on both boards.
After winning the 3-meter with a
personal-best score of 247.65
against California (Pa.) on Friday,
she won both boards against
Cleveland State and UIC Saturday
afternoon. Reese posted a
personal-best score of 254.80 in the
1-meter to just miss qualifying for
the NCAA Zone C Championship, and
she reset her personal-best mark in
the 3-meter with a 254.40. Her score
in the 3-meter also moved her into
third place on YSU's all-time top
performer's list.
Arnold went undefeated in distance freestyle events and
anchored a winning relay last week.
Against California (Pa.), she picked
up YSU's first win of the meet in
the 1,000 free (10:47.98) and added
a first-place finish in the 500 free
(5:17.74). She also anchored the
800-yard free relay against the
Vulcans. A day later, Arnold was the
top overall finisher in the 1,000
free (10:45.58) and the 500 free
(5:18.42) against Cleveland State
and UIC. She added a fourth-place
overall finish against the Flames
and Vikings in the 200 IM (2:17.94).
Reese will compete at the YSU Diving Invitational on Saturday
at 11 a.m. in the Beeghly
Natatorium. |
