Penguins Top Cleveland State to Earn Double Dual Split
Cleveland, Ohio -- Julia Darling and Brittany Senn picked
up overall victories and the Youngstown State swimming and diving team showed
off its improved squad with a 157-74 victory over Cleveland State in a double
dual Saturday.
The Penguins split two contests with the Vikings last season,
edging CSU for a 118-116 victory before falling 130-97 in February. The 83-point
margin today came with the help of six freshman swimmers and an extra year of
experience for the rest of the roster.
YSU fell to perennial Horizon League power Wright State
163-80.
Darling also earned a win against Cleveland State in the 200
IM, and Senn was part of two winning relays against the Vikings. Olivia Arnold,
Jessica Front, Erin-Michelle Gordon and Kelly Reese also picked up individual
wins against Cleveland State.
Arnold added a personal-best time of 2:32.88 in the 200
breast to finish third overall, and Natasha Bray posted a personal-best mark of
2:21.47 in the 200 IM to finish seventh overall. It was Bray's sixth
personal-best mark of the season.
The Penguins will compete at the Radford Invitational on Nov.
