Penguins Capture Two
Wins in Senior Night Double Dual
Youngstown --
Julia Darling and Cortney Harless
won two events apiece for four of
Youngstown State's 11 victories in a
double dual with California (Pa.)
and Slippery Rock on Friday evening.
Harless' victories came in her final meet at the Beeghly
Natatorium as she was honored with
fellow seniors Becky Bertuzzi and
Kim Hanley in a pre-meet ceremony.
Harless' 18 points helped YSU top
Cal 139.50-127.50 and Slippery Rock
154-116.
Darling posted a season-best time of 1:09.00 to win the
100-yard breaststroke and clocked in
with a time of 2:31.30 to win the
200 breast.
Four different Penguins picked up individual wins in the
freestyle as Brittany Senn won the
100 (54.71), Jessica Front won the
200 (1:58.86), Natasha Bray won the
500 (5:21.49) and Olivia Arnold won
the 1,000 (10:57.81).
Lara Munro added a win in the 200 fly (2:15.84), and YSU
picked up victories in the 200
medley relay and the 200 free relay.
Bertuzzi claimed her final home
win as a member of the 200 medley
and added a second-place finish in
the 200 free. Hanley recorded a
season-best time in the 50 free, led
off the second 200 free relay and
swam the breaststroke portion of the
200 medley relay.
The Penguins will continue to taper their training to prepare
for the Horizon League Championship.
The four-day event will begin Feb.
21 at the UIC Natatorium in Chicago. |
