Penguins Fall to Ohio 135-100 in First Meet of 2007

Youngstown -- Freshman Megan Rupe won the 100-yard freestyle with the fastest time of her young collegiate career as Youngstown State opened the 2007 portion of its schedule with a 135-100 setback to Ohio Friday evening.
Rupe's time of 54.52 is the second-fastest swam by a Penguin this season and ranks her as the sixth-fastest 100 free swimmer in school history.
The Penguins, who arrived home from their training trip to Puerto Rico around 2:30 a.m. Friday, have two more meets at the Beeghly Natatorium in the next eight days. YSU will take on Akron Sunday at 1 p.m. and compete against St. Francis (Pa.) and Radford on Jan. 20 at 1 p.m.
Olivia Arnold placed second in the 1,000 free (10:58.81) and third in the 500 free (5:24.05). Erin-Michelle Gordon finished one spot back in third in the 1,000 free (11:02.91), and Becky Bertuzzi posted a third-place finish in the 200 free (2:00.03).
