Announce Three Additions to 2007-08
Squad
Youngstown
-- Swimmers Alana Kane and Laura
Hanley and diver Caitlin Davis have
signed National Letters of Intent to
attend Youngstown State, head
swimming and diving coach Matt
Anderson announced.
Kane is a sprint freestyler from Greensburg, Pa., Hanley is a
breaststroker from Oregon, Ohio and Davis
hails from Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Kane is a Pennsylvania state and district qualifier, and a
YMCA district, state and national
qualifier. She was named Hempfield
Area High's Rookie-of-the-Year as a freshman,
and she carries a 3.75 grade-point
average.
"We are very excited to have Alana join our program,"
Anderson said. "She will be a great
addition to our sprint program and
will add depth to our IMs. She is a
great fit with our team and we look
forward to having her here next
year."
Hanley is also a YMCA national qualifier and is a three-time
team captain at Clay High. She finished fourth in
the 100 breast at the Ohio Northwest
district meet and sixth in the 200
IM. Hanley, the sister of current
YSU swimmer Kim Hanley, also carries a 3.8 GPA
and ranks in the top 10 percent of
her class.
"Laura is someone that will become a team leader here at YSU,
and her personality is going to be a
great addition to our program,"
Anderson said. "She will come in and
have an immediate impact in the
breaststroke and IM events."
Davis attends Siegel High School where she has been a state
finalist, earned all-area diver
accolades and was named team MVP.
She has also competed in gymnastics
and is a member of the National
Honor Society. |
