Indianapolis -- Youngstown State sophomore Kelly Reese has been named the Horizon League Diver of the Week, the league announced this morning.
Reese, a native of Canfield, Ohio, won the 1-meter board with a score of 223.51 and finished second in the 3-meter with a score of 218.78 against Marshall on Saturday. She then posted season-best scores of 238.20 in the 1-meter and 232.70 in the 3-meter to place second and third at the Clarion Diving Invitational on Saturday.
Reese was also named the Horizon League Diver of the Week twice during her freshman season.
Freshman swimmer Megan Rupe was also mentioned as a notable performer by the league. Rupe, a native of New Philadelphia, Ohio, won both sprint freestyle events and anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay against Marshall. She out-touched Brittany Senn in the 50- and 100-free to chalk up 18 individual points. Her time of 25.28 in the 50 free ranks her sixth in YSU history and the 55.06 finish in the 100 free ranks her eighth.
The Penguins will open up the home portion of their schedule on Friday against Butler at 5 p.m.
