Bareman Wins 50 Free, Penguins Place Third at Radford Invite

Youngstown -- Leigh Bareman won the 50-yard freestyle and swam the second leg of Youngstown State's winning 200-yard freestyle relay to highlight YSU's performances at the Radford Thanksgiving Invitational over the weekend.
Bareman's time of 24.86 ranks her as the fourth-fastest 50-yard sprinter in school history and was one of 16 new entries to YSU's all-time list at the meet. The Penguins finished third with 560 points, which is a 145-point improvement from last season.
Natasha Bray was the top scorer in the individual events with 60 points. She finished second in the 1,650 free, fifth in the 400 IM, sixth in the 500 free, eighth in the 200 back and 12th in the 200 breast. Olivia Arnold scored 57 points, Brittany Senn scored 55.5 and Julia Darling scored 42.5. Megan Rupe swam the top time overall in the 100 free, but her time came in the consolation final as she narrowly missed qualifying for the top finals in the prelims.
The Penguins' next meet will be Jan. 12 against Ohio at 4 p.m.
