Penguins Kick Off Season at Tom Stubbs Relays

    Bowling Green, Ohio -- Youngstown State earned three top-five finishes, two of which came in sprint freestyle relays, in its first meet of the 2006-07 season at the Tom Stubbs Relays over the weekend.
    The 200-yard free relay of Megan Rupe, Brittany Senn, Leigh Bareman and Jessica Front headlined YSU's performances with a fourth-place time of 1:41.72, which ranks eighth in school history. Rupe's leadoff split of 25.43 also ranks her seventh in the 50 free.
    The 400 free relay of Senn, Becky Bertuzzi, Front and Rupe also placed fourth with a time of 3:44.04. Olivia Arnold, Jennifer Johnstone and Julia Darling teamed up to place fifth in the 300 breaststroke relay.
    The Penguins had two more top-10 performances as Senn, Darling, Bertuzzi and Rupe's time of 4:14.77 in the 400 medley relay ranks ninth in school history. Natasha Bray's leadoff split of 5:26.49 in the 1,500 free relay also ranks eighth all-time.
    YSU will compete in its first dual meet of the season on Oct. 28 at Marshall.
