Arnold Wins Twice at UIC to Highlight Weekend Meets
Chicago -- Sophomore Olivia Arnold won the 400 IM
and the 500 free for two of Youngstown State's four individual wins at a dual
with UIC on Friday evening at the UIC Natatorium.
Arnold posted a personal-best time of 4:42.19 in the 400 IM
to win by more than seven seconds, and her winning time of 5:21.90 in the 500
free was more than five seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Freshman Lara Munro earned her second collegiate victory in
the 200 fly with a time of 2:13.99, and Julia Darling edged Arnold in the 200
breast with a first-place time of 2:30.18.
Brittany Senn posted second-place finishes in the 50 free and
200 fly, and Natasha Bray placed second in the 1,000 free. Megan Rupe added a
second-place finish in the 100 free with a collegiate-best time of 54.11.
Arnold's time in the 400 IM was 4.99 seconds faster than her
previous personal-best, and the time ranks her as the second-fastest 400 IM
swimmer in YSU history. In a double
dual with UW-Green Bay and Illinois
State on Saturday, Darling earned
third-place finishes in both
backstrokes while Rupe, Senn, Bray,
Munro and Erin-Michelle Gordon each
earned a fifth-place overall finish.
Jennifer Johnstone swam collegiate-best times in the 100
breast and 200 IM, and Leah Krout
posted a collegiate-best time in the
1,650 free. Amanda Ladd added a
collegiate-best time in the 100
back.
The Penguins will return home for two meets this week in
their final warm-up before the Horizon League Championship. YSU will play host
to Cleveland State on Thursday at 6 p.m. before senior day on Friday against
California (Pa.) and Slippery Rock. |
