Five Wins Pace Penguins to
Second-Place Finish at Carnegie
Mellon Invite

Freshman Ashley Williamson won the
200-yard backstroke by nine seconds,
and Youngstown State won five events
to finish second at the Carnegie
Mellon Invitational on Friday
evening.
Williamson also teamed up with Julia Darling, Brittany Senn
and Megan Rupe to swim the
second-fastest time in school
history in the 200 medley relay
(1:52.38).
In addition to Williamson's winning time of 2:09.32 in the
200 back, Darling won the 200 IM in
2:20.22. Olivia Arnold's two wins in
the 1,000 free (10:54.83) and 500
free (5:24.78) gave her seven
victories in the last three meets.
Williamson, Senn, Rupe and Alana
Kane won the 400 free relay
(3:40.27).
Williamson added a second-place finish in the 100 back
(1:00.29), and Darling was second in
the 100 breast (1:10.55). Rupe
placed second in the 100 free
(54.65), Senn finished second in the
50 free (25.10) and Natasha Bray
placed second in the 1,000 free
(10:57.65).
Earning third-place finishes were Darling in the 200 breast
(2:34.43), Rupe in the 200 free
(1:59.01) and Jen Johnstone in the
100 breast (1:12.40).
The Penguins finished second to host Carnegie Mellon and
defeated California (Pa.), Slippery
Rock and Lock Haven. |
