Cicilson
Competes In Five Events Against
World's Best At Championships
Rome -- Youngstown State
sophomore swimmer Nishani Cicilson
competed in five events for her
native country of Suriname at the
13th FINA World Championships in
Rome this past week. Cicilson
competed in the 50-meter backstroke,
100 back, 50-meter butterfly, 100
fly and 50-meter free and 100
freestyles at Foro Italico.
In the 100-meter backstroke, she dropped her personal-best
time in the 100-meter backstroke
from 1:10.30 to 1:07.34, and her 50
back time has dropped from 32.41 to
31.30 seconds. In the 100 back she
placed 77th on July 29 after
finishing 69th in the 50 back on
July 27.
In the 100-meter freestyle, she finished with a time of 59.94
seconds placing her 92nd at the
worlds on July 30. On July 31, she
posted a time of 29.34 seconds in
the 50-meter butterfly to place
72nd.
In the 50-meter freestyle, Cicilson finished with a time of
27.22 seconds to place 78th in her
final event of the competition on
August 1. |
